Zombie movies have definitely come to this stage where they have been declined in so many different ways that they are completely integrated to worldwide movie classics. This theory is to be once more demonstrated with one of the most promising project of the moment, a horror comedy called Zombieland. Directed by Ruben Fleischer and played by Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Arelson and Amber Heard among others, the project seems to present a lot of similarities with the great Shaun of the Dead from Edgar Wright. Indeed the first pictures and trailer give the clear and promising impression of a crazy movie that should delight fans of raw flesh. A zombie invasion with a big touch of humour used as an excuse for slaughtering living-dead in the proper traditional way : never kill a zombie twice the same way, and eventually use a piano as the result becomes even funnier! Now all we have to do is wait until 9th October to discover if the American student will have surpassed his English master…
Columbus has made a habit of running from what scares him. Tallahassee doesn’t have fears. If he did, he’d kick their ever-living ass. In a world overrun by zombies, these two are perfectly evolved survivors. But now, they’re about to stare down the most terrifying prospect of all: each other.
Summer wouldn’t seem so real without its usual batch of Hollywood blockbusters! Well this summer of 2009 should not be any different, and this time’s American super production in the lead is for sure Micheal Bay’s last movie bombshell, coming up on screens with his huge Transformers 2 : Revenge of the Fallen. Though we’d been told the second adventures of Optimus Prime and his everlasting enemy Megatron were to be funnier and more emotional, the formula seems to have remained exactly the same: production is stilled carried out by Paramount, Bay is still directing and Shia LaBeouf, sexy Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson take the same parts over. Well at least fans should not feel confused.
Prepare for more heavy metal mayhem as the evil shapeshifting robots known as the Decepticons return to Earth on a mission to take Sam Witwicky (Shia LeBeouf) prisoner after he learns the truth about the ancient origins of the Transformers. It’s up to the heroic Autobots and their leader Optimus Prime to rescue Sam but not before they encounter a new breed of bad guys, a resurrected enemy and an ancient evil with the power to destroy the entire universe.
Micheal Bay does not seem to agree with the common saying that size doesn’t matter. Indeed, this second part of Transformer’s saga proudly displays extravagant numbers: $200 million expenditures… 6 robots fighting during more than two hours and a half, 45 000 Go needed for special effects… Things were not done halfway and Transformers 2 is definitely to be seen over giant screens should you wish to be properly blown away. Let’s only hope that Bay did not fall into the actual usual trick of wanting to do so much that fans end up feeling disappointed…See you on Wednesday in movie theatres if you wish to know the answer…
Fans of the hilarious Jack Black can since Friday go to watch him on screens under the direction of his friend Harold Ramis, also responsible for Ghostbuster’s scenario as well as Groundhog Day (both cult movies would I say). The rock singer of Tenacious D is now showing in the prehistoric comedy Year One, where he acts next to a whole bunch of popular actors such as Micheal Cera (also to be seen in the great Juno and SuperBad), Olivia Wilde, Vinnie Jones, David Cross, Paul Rudd, Oliver Platt, Hank Hazaria and Xander Berkeley. The ridiculous touch given to very laughable situations bring a positive image to this comedy, where the participation of Black in itself is probably already enough to guarantee a place at the top box office…
After being banished from their homeland, tribesmen Zed and Oh embark on a journey through their ancient world. Along the way, they encounter a host of biblical characters including Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel and Abraham.
Some projects only raise curiosity once concrete elements have been revealed and it is for sure the case of Surrogates. Indeed, details that have drawn attention to this feature are first the participation of Bruce Willis and secondly a really well-set trailer. Developed by Touchstone Pictures Studios, Surrogate is based on the graphic novel (written by Robert Venditti and illustrated by Brett Weldele) and is to be realised by Jonathan Mostow (Terminator 3). The trailer that I’m presenting you down below introduces us to the world surrounding Bruce Willis (as well as Radha Mitchel, Ving Rhames, Rosamund Pike, Valerie Azlynn…) with fairly strange appealing details (one-armed Bruce Willis? A whole unplugged robot population? Quite punchy actions scenes…) picturing all in all a rather promising movie, let’s hope for it! The answer on September 25th…
In this future, humans live in isolation while only communicating with their fellow man through robots that serve as social surrogates and are better-looking versions of their human counterparts. Bruce Willis stars as an FBI agent who enlists the aid of his own surrogate to investigate the murder of the genius college student who invented the surrogates. As the case grows more complicated, however, the withdrawn detective discovers that in order to actually catch the killer he will have to venture outside the safety of his own home for the first time in many years, and enlists the aid of another agent (Radha Mitchell) in tracking his target down.
I also suggest you take a look at the promotional website of the project, which is a real “fake website” from Virtual Self Industries, name of the company producing robots in the movie. There you can create your own robotised clone by uploading your picture! http://chooseyoursurrogate.com
