As I already mentioned a few months ago, Shane Acker’s future masterpiece, the animated project Number 9, has finally come out. The wait has been long for this animated movie arousing all curiosities: dust, mechanical odds and ends, as well as devastated cities are the daily surroundings for a bunch of living dolls facing merciless machines that seem to be coming straight from Terminator’s world! Number 9, the young director’s first long feature, is actually the adaptation from Shane Acker’s short final assessment work into a longer version (which was nominated for an Oscar). Produced by Tim Burton, the movie’s cast includes among others Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly and Jennifer Connelly.
Nine sapient rag dolls created by the same scientist responsible for inventing the machines that have taken over the world and cleansed it of almost all human inhabitants, stand up to the machines as humanity’s last hope.
