Cameron is back

Would cinema still be called 7th art if it weren’t for all these exceptional picture masters and genius story tellers offering us masterpieces with each of their movies? Would this 24 pictures per second technique still amaze us so much without such camera gods? Well James Cameron is undeniably one of those! His filmography speaks for itself: Abyss, Aliens, Terminator 2 and the multi-oscarised Titanic… How could such a director go so unnoticed regarding his next movie? Especially considering he claims to revolutionize modern cinema?

Expected by the end of the year, Avatar is one of the most expensive features from the whole cinema history (more than 300 million dollars). Cameron is once more ahead of the rest: just like for Abyss and T2, he created himself the equipment he needed for this latest project… Indeed, the successfully made 3D effects, that amazed those who were lucky enough to view the movie early last august, are due to stereoscopic cameras… But before we can enjoy more concerning this future hit, take a look at the trailer!

Scary hairy trailer

Until now, the many talks concerning Joe Johnston’s Wolfman were only to announce it was delayed! Well it seems that the spell is now over, as this horror feature (focused on lycanthropy) is assured to be released early 2010, on February 10th precisely. With a very tasty cast (Benicio Del Toro, Hugo Weaving, Emily Blunt and Anthony Hopkins, indeed!) and a rather efficient trailer (clever pictures and convincing special effects), this remake from George Waggner’s horror classic made in 1941 (with the great Lon Chaney) seems very promising… That being said, let’s not bay at it like a werewolf at the moon, remakes carrying first good impressions are not always the best ones!

Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman, is lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father, Talbot sets out to find his brother… and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself. Talbot’s childhood ended the night his mother died. After he left the sleepy Victorian hamlet of Blackmoor, he spent decades recovering and trying to forget. But when his brother’s fiancée, Gwen Conliffe, tracks him down to help find her missing love, Talbot returns home to join the search. He learns that something with brute strength and insatiable bloodlust has been killing the villagers, and that a suspicious Scotland Yard inspector named Aberline has come to investigate.

Special tribute to the King of Pop

While he was famous for his dancing talent, he was also very famous for breaking records: youngest voice to become n°1 in the USA, most expensive video of all times (for Thriller), biggest amount of albums sold worldwide, etc. Gone since last June 25th following to a medical overdose, Michael Jackson might once more unleash passions on the release day from Michael Jackson’s this is It next Wednesday October 28th.

Directed by Kenny Ortega, the documentary will focus mainly on the last moments spent in preparing what was supposed to be a great show in London. Indeed, this last movie tribute to Michael Jackson is based on the hundred of hours recorded behind the scenes during the latest rehearsals. This is It, will also be the opportunity to come back on the legendary singer’s career and is only to be displayed during 2 weeks from October 28th. According to Sony, which is in charge of releasing worldwide the feature, presales have already reached great amounts… The last show from the King of Pop can only be worth himself, that is to say totally legendary!

Some more Saw?

The 5 episodes saga that has covered our screens with blood since 2004 is about to welcome a 6th member. The latest episode from the well-known Saw saga is indeed close to coming out as gory fans will be able to savour the latest tortures thought up by Jigsaw from this Friday, October 23rd. In spite of the criticism faced every year from the audience and reviews, Halloween 2009 will once more be marked by Jigsaw’s footprint as it’s saga keeps on bringing viewers around (the 5th episode had made 26 million dollar, no less). While no one knows yet if Saw 6, directed by Kevin Greutert (film editor in the previous episodes 2, 3, 4 and 5), will be successful or not, a Saw 7 is already on its way for a 3D try… When Hollywood’s crazy machine is on, nothing can stop it!

Special Agent Strahm is dead, and Detective Hoffman has emerged as the unchallenged successor to Jigsaw’s legacy. However, when the FBI draws closer to Hoffman, he is forced to set a game into motion, and Jigsaw’s grand scheme is finally understood.
