Today’s topic will be on a game, which was initially to be developed with a rather unusual concept! Indeed, Rogue Warrior meant at first to put you into the shoes of Dick Marcinko, a hard boiled American guy who really lived, and was once soldier in command of one of Navy SEAL’s elite troops. The aim was that any operation could have been considered from a leader’s point of view as well as from each single unit member. Now all theses characteristics have been given up in favour of a strongly tactical FPS, coming out on December 1st on Xbox, PC and PS3… Indeed, in this software conceived by Rebellion Developments, the success of your missions in Rogue Warrior will mostly depend on your choices as well as on how well you get on with your team mates. To be played alone or in a multiplayer mode, let’s see if the game will manage to overshadow Modern Warfare 2’s recent success…
Frequently seen in the case of movies, remakes now also apply to videogames. Indeed, Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter is the PC remake from saga Serious Sam’s first opus, this brutish FPS lacking of all subtlety (all the better!). What makes this remake so special is its visual side, as the guys from Croteam (developers) have updated and face-lifted all graphics! As an outcome, you can now go and butcher an entire load of brainless monsters coming up to you in high definition! Firstly available on PC thanks to the Steam download platform, the game should be coming onto Xbox Live Arcades some time in December!
Flesh eaters are not only popular in movies; 15 years after Umbrella’s zombies opened the way for survival horror games on Playstation 1, they still haven’t got out of fashion. It’s even the opposite! With Left for Dead 2, it is once more the open season on living dead for PC and Xbox owners. Created by Valve (also responsible for Half Life and Counter Strike), this new gory FPS fits in the first opus’ line but still brings some novelties in, such as higher difficulty levels, new weapons (pan, axe, bat, etc.)… Since November 17th, the 2000 zombies announced per level (according to the editor) are hence waiting for you to play the 4 new survivors (alone or together) and prepared to die once more… Well at least, let’s just hope for it…
You’d been expecting him for so long… well your wish has come true! Last Tuesday, the very awaited Assassin’s Creed II has finally arrived in North America for new adventures on PC, 360 and PS3. Let us recall that these new adventures take place in Renaissance Italy, during which you should play Ezio, the son from a rich family that has decided to avenge his family (a dark story of betrayal still haunts his mind). New gestures and hiding techniques, evolving system for the hero and his capacities, new places to explore… In other words, this second opus brings on perfect continuity to Altair’s adventures, all the while offering sufficient improvements so as to make it, not only a continuation, but mostly a great game on every level.
