The “human-vampire-werewolf” love triangle from the saga delighting thousands of teenagers worldwide is about to release on this Friday June 30th its 3rd episode; The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Following to Catherine Hardwicke and Chris Weit who were in charge of directing the first two episodes, it is now the turn of David Slade (who is used to vampires as he already directed 30 Days of Night) to direct this saga  of forbidden desires’ third part. It makes no doubt that just as for both previous movies that were based on Stephenie Meyer’s best sellers; the feature will be as overwhelming to the box office as Robert Patisson will be to his girl fans! Moreover, it seems that Bella, Edward and Jacob are not done yet with their adventures two additional chapters will be needed to conclude this supernatural love story; chapter IV: Breaking Dawn and chapter V: Midnight Sun, respectively planed for 2011 and 2013… Just like frenzy fans’ expenses, seems like Bella’s heart still has some hard times to come!

Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob - knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

However, if infected movies are indeed your cup of tea, then a trip to this little middle-west town is definitely a must! Anchor Bay plans on releasing the video editions on June 29th with a few bonuses such as the director’s voice comment as well as five other extras focussing on various aspects of the feature (making of, documentary on Romero, make up explanations and another doc on cinema pandemics)… Well, as suggested on the posters, now is not a good time to trust your neighbours!

Breck Eisner’s remake of the George A. Romero classic (the legendary horror director’s personal favourite) finds the Iowan town of Odgen Marsh under siege from its denizens after its water supply is contaminated with a deadly toxin. As the townspeople murder, pillage and generally run amok, it’s up to a small band of uncontaminated folk (led by the sheriff - played by Timothy Olyphant) to fight for survival.

Based on Bryan Lee O’Malley’s comic book that was cleverly mixing together indie rock music with teenage romance and some manga-inspired graphics, Edgar Wright’s film project finally ends up being quite exciting to many geeks due to the online trailer presenting a promising movie filled with impressive fight scenes in a video pop atmosphere and featuring a rather good cast! In this Scott Pilgrim versus the World, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz’s great director has replaced his two usual favourites Simon Pegg and Nick Frost for a more “American” cast: staring the fashionable Micheal Cera for the main part, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, charming Chris Evans (playing Human Torch in the Fantastic Four), Brandon Routh (Superman’s reboot), Jason Schwartzman and some new ones like Ellen Wong and Kieran Culkin…  With amazing visuals (spectacular fight scenes, a comic book atmosphere) and a touching and clever scenario (a half looser hero with a large heart trying to get rid of his girl’s 7 exs), the meeting is set up on August 13th!

The famous burned face cowboy created in 1972 by John Albano and Tony DeZuniga gets for the first time his own movie adaptation! Directed by Jimmy Hayward, also creator of Horton Hears a Who, the feature will be released on Friday June 18th and staring the hardly recognisable Josh Brolin to play Jonah Hex. Just as in DC’s book and also shown in the trailer, the feature appears to be quite gloomy and violent, to the delight of gun fans looking for some blood and revenge… In addition to Brolin, John Malkovitch (an evil priest trying to raise an army of zombies) as well as the charming Megan Fox (playing Hex’s only friend Leila) who was recently thrown out of Transformer’s 3rd episode, will also be part of the adventure. Well, be ready to eat dust during this very rough journey that takes place in hostile Far-West!

If you missed for any reason this geeks’ masterpiece while it was on screen, you now have the opportunity to catch up as the videowill be released on June 15th. Warner Home Video will present a DVD edition as well as a combined Blu-Ray/DVD one. As fare as extras are concerned, the DVD will only hold a few additional scenes and a documentary on Carnegie’s story (played by Gary Oldman), whereas the Blu-ray should give access to 40 minutes of Maximum Movie Mode (in which Denzel Washington and the Hughes brothers will handle more in detail specific parts of the feature), a few extras (Starting Over, Soundtrack Piece, Eli’s Journey) and a digital copy! Fans of genre cinema will definitely have to see this astonishing movie, which is about to become legendary!

Why would the movie Slice be likely to become the cinema event of this summer? For one simple reason, its director is the clever Vincenzo Natali, the same one who already delighted us with the two fantastic movies Cube and Nothing! When adding to that Guillermo Del Toro as producer and some intriguing but very nice visuals available for some time now on the web, it is only fair that we ask ourselves why it’s taking so long for Natali’s latest creation to finally be unveiled. After it was finalised two years ago and already presented in many festivals worldwide (Sitges festival, Sundance, Gerardmer…), the feature finally gets to be viewed in movie theatres from this Friday, June 4th! Mixture of fantastic and science fiction, the movie deals with the genetic question by introducing us to a couple of Scientifics, Clive (Adrien Brody) and Elsa (Sarah Polley), who created a hybrid being by mixing some animal DNA with human genes… But copying God isn’t this easy! The subject approached is rather complex (the limits of research from a moral and ethical point of view, a disturbing love triangle, the evolution of genetic science…) and beautifully shown (amazing designs for the creature played by Delphine Chaneac). Will Splice be as good as Natali’s previous two? The answer on screen this week!

Still looking for financial support to finalise his movie project, the eccentric Marilyn Manson has recently unveiled on the internet a teaser presenting the visual atmosphere he’d like to depict in his curious Phantasmagoria. Very few details are known for the moment regarding this damned project in which the gothic musician plans to have his own interpretation of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.  Though the project has been struggling for 5 years now, names such as Benoit Debie (French chief operator) and the actress Lily Cole (also seen in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus) appear already in it.  And even though very mostly uncertain, some other names have also been mentioned (Evan Rachel Wood, Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp). While waiting for additional information (shooting time, some more details regarding the scenario wrote by Manson …), let’s hope this first video might incite worldwide producers to invest in the movie: in addition to being a very good singer and composer, Marilyn Manson is also appreciated as a multi talented and creative artist, as shown in his various artworks or cinema productions (video clips, long feature contributions…). Nothing really surprising when hearing that the famous videogame franchise created 20 years ago by Jordan Mechner and brought up to date a few years ago by Sony is now finally entitled to its own live adaptation! Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is to be seen in movie theatres from this Friday May 28th and promises to be one of this summer’s major release, the Disney/Bruckheimer logo (like for Pirates of the Caribbean) on it probably helping a little! Big blockbuster directed by Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), the talented Jake Gyllenhaal has been offered the heavy task of playing Prince Dartan, in charge of protecting the Sands of Time, a real gift of gods lusted by a terrible tyrant. As you can see in the video here below, the movie promises some spectacular moments and in case of success, a future trilogy is already considered! Well who said everything wasn’t planned in advance in Hollywood?
